Dear Members and Friends

Happy Holidays and Happy Festive Season to you all! Arc will be closed to the public from this Sunday, 4pm the 19th December to 12 noon January 20th 2022. Members can still book spaces to work or rehearse in over the holiday break. Please email arc at arcyinnar@speedweb.com.au if you wish to book some space.

Our first exhibition for the year will be opening on 22nd January. ‘The Summer Show’, get your entries in by the 17th January, we will be open to receive entries. All enquires please email arc arcyinnar@speedweb.com.au

Gallery News:

This is our last weekend of Gallery for 2021, which has seen a crazy year of lockdowns and resultant gallery closure, yet has delivered a couple of wonderful events for you to enjoy.

You can still enjoy:

Arc Gallery

‘Vast’ until this Sunday 19th Dec works by Sheena Jones, Melissa Thomson and Liz Tyler until this Sunday afternoon 4pm.

Sparc Gallery

A number of small works and prints by Kate Zizys, Dinah Barton and Lisa Timms Stevens, as well as the work of the women of Boneca de Atauro (all of these works would make fabulous Christmas gifts)

Plus, there is the work on exhibit and for sale in our foyer shelves and foyer vitrines.

Please also remember our Summer Exhibition will start on the 22nd of January, so plenty of time to create a magnificent artwork for a theme of summertime- we all need a bit of summer time after what seems to have been the longest winter for a long time - lets liven up the gallery space with an exuberant celebration of summer. The entry form is attached.

We have a full program for 2022 with many celebratory events throughout the year, culminating in a Big Event at the end of 2022 to celebrates Arcs 40th Birthday!

This print is currently available for sale as part of a fundraising effort to support the purchase of materials for the Arc Yinnar Print room project.

The work is selling for only $200 and half of the proceeds will be captured to buy materials to support Arcs community printmaking workshops, print room access artists, and resident artists.

It can be purchased over the counter at Arc Yinnar or you can email to order and we will organize delivery through the artists (plus postage required)

A terrific Christmas gift for badass-babes.

Pony Tales is a 56 x 76 cm limited edition (10 only)
giclee print on archival paper created from an original drawing by Kate Zizys for the Owls of Nebraska E-book Inferno.

Arc workshops for 2022

We will be presenting some new creative workshops in 2022. The exciting addition will be ‘Art to Business’ which is a course run by artists and business professionals to assist those wanting to set up their own art business. This will be held on Zoom so it will be very easy to attend from anywhere in Gippsland.

We will also have our popular classes in Painting & Drawing and Printmaking and of course Blacksmithing.

Ceramics has been a very in demand class in 2021 and will continue in 2022, with plans for term long courses in both wheel throwing and hand building throughout the year and opportunities to build and consolidate skills.

We will be adding a few extra workshops such as welding and metal casting with our Blacksmithing tutor Paddy McKenzie. Keep a watch on our social media, arcYinnar.org and our newsletter for more information.

Textiles will make a special appearance with Dijanne Cevaal and hopefully another workshop with Cheryl Cook. Watch for more details.

Give us some feedback if you are interested in another fun class in Cyanotype, Screen printing with Sharon Anderson and Nature Printing with Jenny Peterson. Sharon is experimenting with a new technique called Kitchen Lithography and hopes to share this next year.

We are also most keen to organize some workshops in silversmith, silver clay and ceramic jewelry making, please let us know of either your interest to teach any of these skills or attend and participate in workshops.

If you have ideas or skills that you would like to share, please contact us at arc. Sharon Anderson is the workshop coordinator. arcyinnar@speedweb.com.au See you in 2022!

The Switchroom

The Switchroom makes a comeback in 2022 with the recommencement of our monthly Open Stage events and a few performative and musical surprises throughout the year.

Art Chat

Art chat returns on the 27th January with visiting artists Grace Ware, Gabriella Duffy and Dana Flahavin in the pipeline (TBC) to come in and talk about their work. The time is 5:30 for drinks and something to eat and the talks begin at 6pm. Art Chats will continue on a 2 monthly basis. Any members who would like to participate by presenting their work please lets us know by contacting Liz Tyler via email arcyinnar@speedweb.com.au All Welcome.

The Print Room Project

The Print room project is a 4-year initiative funded by Regional Arts Australia Recovery Grant and is in its 2nd year in 2022.

This year was spent consulting, planning and fundraising by the print room working group for the refurbishment of the print room and annexation of the darkroom as both a place for photo processing and specialized printmaking techniques. We have raised the funds to commence the refurbishment in 2022. The Project involves a newly renovated space, weekly technical assistance, 6-month residencies, visiting artist printmakers and workshops as well as the creation of a collection of edition prints by arc print makers. The space will be abuzz, looking great and an excellent place to work in. Big thanks to The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, the Latrobe City Council, Mirboo North and District Community Foundation, Kate Zizys Greenworks Press, Eversun Homes and our Print room Working Group.

The Redevelopment Project. 2020-2025

We now have a newly refurbished community arc space, 4 newly renovated private studios, newly refurbished ceramics studio, insulated flooring in our office and lobby, double glazing in all refurbished spaces and the foyer, new heating and solar panels on the roof. It was a mammoth task.
